Overcoming Entropy; The Antidote!

On Intelligence - A Gift from God
God has bestowed upon you intelligence and knowledge. Do not extinguish the lamp of Divine Grace and do not let the candle of wisdom die out in the darkness of lust and error. For a wise man approaches with his torch to light up the path of mankind.

Something About Prayers
I pray simply that through my talk or sermon they may find help and courage and faith to meet the sorrows and difficulties which they face. This is one prayer that inevitably receives a ''Yes'' answer, for when you are able to forget yourself and love others, you are on the Lord's great beam, working for Him and His children. At least I feel it to be so.

On the Riches of our Spirit
The riches of the spirit beautify the face of man and give birth to sympathy and respect. The spirit in every being is made manifest in the eyes, the countenance, and in all bodily movements and gestures. Our appearance, our words, our actions are never greater than ourselves. For the soul is our house; our eyes its windows; and words its messengers.

Another on Beliefs and Doubts
In the Gospel of Saint Matthew we read, “All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believes ye shall receive” (Matthew 21:22). The key word, the word involving battle and struggle, is that word believing. Belief is hard; doubt is easy. Anyone can doubt. It doesn't take brains or skill to doubt. But to cast your doubts aside and believe - ah, this requires stamina and resolution. And when you do believe, really believe, then impossibilities are overcome.

On Inequalities of Life
You may say that you have observed people who have lived wrong lives and still have prospered. I, too, have observed them. But remember that God does not settle His accounts on the thirtieth of every month, or even this year, or the next, or the next. And I can tell you this: Many people I have known who insisted on living a bad life ended up badly. It isn't always a swift or dramatic occurrence. But sooner or later it comes.

On Living
Learning is the only wealth tyrants cannot despoil. Only death can dim the lump of knowledge that is within you. True wealth of a nation lies not in its gold or silver but in its learning, wisdom, in the uprightness of its sons.

On Training and Mentoring
Training maybe expensive but incompetence and ignorance will cost us more. Assume NOTHING.

On Education/Instruction
In any man's education, so much depends on books --- so that libraries make natural universities. Reading, good fellowship, and further readings provide the finishing touches to every man's education. The most important aspect, therefore, of everyone's education is self-instruction (i.e. reading good books). This must be our desire to be liberally educated and at the same time technically literate.

On Reading
Isn't it amazing how we take them for granted, those little black marks on paper! Twenty-six different shapes known as letters, arranged in endless combinations known as words. Lifeless, until someone's eye falls on them...
But then a miracle happens. Along the optic nerve, almost at the speed of the light, these tiny symbols are flashed to the brain where they are instantly decoded into ideas, images, concepts, and meanings.
The owner of the eye is changed, too. The little black marks can make him love or hate, laugh or cry, fight or run away. And what do we call this incredible chain of events?
We call it reading.
Partly because it is such a complex process, reading is not just a habit or a skill; it's a deeply satisfying emotional experience. Something in us knows that the soundest insights, the truest wisdom, the most enduring knowledge come through this channel. The spoken word rushes by and is gone, but the written word remains. It endures. It can be consulted over and over again. Forever.
How wise then to surround oneself with books and magazines.
How wise to love them, and teach one's children to love them.
How wise to read!

On Computer Handling
People will continue to make mistake, what we can do is to really minimize and try to reduce error and in the end eliminate them. The solution is for everyone to have their own workstation. This is not possible at this time. Backup become more necessary in this case. Backup each workstation, setup for a minimum.

Illusions (Richard Bach)
“Don't turn away from possible future before you're certain you don't have anything to learn from them. You're always free to change your mind and choose a different future, or a different past.”

On Retiring
How my father influenced the course of my life! Once while I was brooding on some shameful deed, he put his arms around me and ever so gently said: ''Please remember that nothing you can ever do, however evil, can ever make me love you less. If you ever get into trouble, never hesitate to tell me about it. And we shall see together how we can set the matter right, and prevent it from ever happening again.''
I remember his advice after I graduated from college: ''Earn as much money as you can, son. When the time comes that money is of no more importance to you, when the time comes that money becomes only a means of keeping score in the great game of business, then retire. Retire during the most productive years of your life, and offer your time and your talents to the service of your country. For the greatest gratification a man can have is to make his mark upon history.''

The Big Picture
Let's look at the Big Picture. Where are you in the organization? What piece or part of the whole do you occupy? What role do you play? Is it crucial or is it just time-consuming?
We need to ask ourselves those questions in order for us to give meaning to our existence in our work organization. Each of us has his own personality, lifestyle and priorities which makes us different from each other. But do we want the Big Picture to look like a jigsaw puzzle wherein the pieces are in the wrong places? Or do we want a picture where everybody fits properly into his own place?
The ideal setting of an organization is like a well-oiled machine: the pistons are pushed by the combustion of gasoline, exerting force into the gears, making the sprockets move, turning the wheels, making the machine go. The same is true in an organization where all its departments are working harmoniously, helping each other and cooperating with each other. This setting will definitely move the organization forward and enable it to become productive and progressive. In today's busy society, people are familiar with and often troubled by deadlines, paper work, agenda, projects and many other work-related hassles which easily make them forget about their responsibilities and relationships with the other parts of the organization or group they belong to. Others, however have the innate ability to manage their time and activities effectively and thereby free themselves from these hassles of work. Then they can look at the well-oiled machine, work well and synergistically with the other sections or units within the organization.

At SERVIA Technologies, Inc., as in any organization, it is imperative that all departments see the Big Picture rather than their respective parochial concerns as they put their efforts in a project or any corporate undertaking. If all of us discover the bigger meaning to all the thing we do --- or the forest, so to speak -- and see clearly the Big Picture, then all the tasks and challenges will be simpler and easier to face.

TO EXCEL
To excel is to continually perform not for a moment or moments, not for a day or days. But to perform day after day, month after month, after months, and make that uncommon performance look common place. To excel is to take the inner drive of competition and not only embrace it but master it. It is no wonder, then, that when one truly excels, one is known for excellence. It cannot be thought or legislated -- or willed into existence.

About Working Together And Third Alternative

On the Importance and Value of Co-workers
The most important element in all of our endeavor now is the human factor.

10 TIPS FOR GETTING ALONG WITH YOUR CO-WORKERS
1. Consider the possibility you may be wrong. Every one of us receives some criticisms each day. Many of us respond to it by thinking, That fool! How dare she say that I can possibly be wrong. Accept that the criticism might be justified. Maybe you did err. Perhaps there is a better way to do it.

2. Realize that the people around you are not extensions of your fingers and toes. Your friends and co-workers have lives of their own. If one of them is in bad mood, its not your fault, and it's certainly not your fault and it's certainly not your job to cheer the person up.. If your boss shows up for work raging at the world, you don't have to feel angry too. It has nothing to do with you. If a regular customer has a hangover that day and won't close a deal, it's beyond your control. In a very real way, such problems are none of your business.

3. If things don't go the way you want them to that day it's not the end of the world. No one gets to do all the things she wants to do in a day. That's why there's tomorrow. To expect that your day will always go the way you want it to will only make you (a) irritable, (b) waste your time and that of everyone around you, and (c) totally undermine your ability to get along with others.

4. Your job is not to judge or persecute those around you. Spending any significant amount of time judging anything about your colleagues except the quality of what they produce is not your job, Likewise, feeling superior to the people you work with, or even inferior to them is not your job. People who identify with their colleagues get ahead. People who compare do not.

5. Match your actions with your intentions. You judge other people by their actions and you must expect them to judge you accordingly. If someone does you a favor, say thanks. If you are supposed to do something for someone else, do it, Don't promise to do it. Do it. If you are supposed to be somewhere, don't make an excuse. Be there.

6. Remember that feelings come and feelings go. Everyone has had days when she felt as if she might murder everyone in her office, Let the anger and frustration subside. A good sleep, a good meal will do. If you realize that such feelings are, for the most part, fleeting, you can stop yourself from acting on them in harmful, self destructive ways. If you understand that your moods--- and everyone else's-- are subject to change, you can hold back the fury or sarcasm. Remember, you'll spare others’ feelings --- and probably save your job --- by not saying permanently harmful things in a temporary frenzy.

7. Make your colleagues your friends. ''If you want to have a friend, be a Friend'' may sound old fashioned, yet it's nothing but simple logic. If you want your colleagues to like you, give them a reason to like you. Be a friend to them, be supportive of them. When they are overworked, offer to help. When they are discouraged, cheer them up. When they feel outnumbered, be on their side.

8. Look for the good in others, and praise it. You are motivated far more by praise than by criticism.

9. Friends come and go, but enemies accumulate. Its never a good idea to make enemies unless you absolutely have to and there is simply no alternative to doing so. You can make friends with a colleague and be nice to her and have it work out wonderful. But if she moves to another company or town, she’s usually out of your life. But if you get into a prolonged fight with the colleague--- and try to make her an enemy--- she’ll be out there aiming at you, no matter where she is. Bear in mind, it’s a political world. If you make a career out of making enemies and picking fights, someday, in some dark corporate alley, they’ll all be waiting for you. Instead of showing how furious you are, count one to ten then look the other way.

10. Don’t gossip. Hard as it is to resist, gossip always gets back to you. Gossip inevitably hurt’s everyone who touches it. It never in any lasting way adds to your friendship, power or happiness. The people with whom you share gossip will always distract you, because they very well know you may dish them next. Listen, if you must, but if you do join in, do so knowing that it’s like having a little too much to drink. Be prepared for a hangover the next morning.

As your CEO
My job really is to THINK, I’d like you really to
execute them with finesse. Again, I can only give you instruction,
your obedience will determine the result.

ERL’s Getting Tired on Teaching
Educate the people, teach them how to be productive. Do not waiver about teaching them. Keep hammering.

Pointers for Implementing CAD use
1. Use third party advancements, tailor to specific use.

2. Assign one to really study the feature; add one (1) manager and one (1) operator to see exactly the needs.

3. Use this people to train other staff.

4. CAD third party development specialist to supervise department.

Take Time to Lead
If we do not really want to follow always – try taking time to lead, you’ll feel tired at the start, but you can rest, the rest of the journey, because they will do the rest of the work along the way while you lead. Everyone will instinctively do this. Look at the personality, task, principle and situation involved --- this appears to be the more balanced approach.

On Marrying your sons and Daughters
Then came the question of marriage. That their children marry the right person with whom they may live always in happy companionship is a concern to parents. Mrs. Daniel A. Poling, whose twelve children all married very well, had a creative idea: If one of them became enamored of someone who didn't seem right, she persuaded that child to bring the friend home to stay for a week. Before the week was up he or she would sense deficiencies, if any, and incompatibility, if any, and the budding romance would wither on the vine. If, however, the person was all right, that would also manifest itself.

Regarding Listening And Speaking

WHEN IS A RULE NOT A RULE
1. WHEN A RULE IS KNOWN TO ONE OR A FEW, BUT NOT TO ALL
A supervisor may be able to receive the rules, but unless they are also known by everyone in his group, they cannot guide safety performance.

2. WHEN A RULE IS ESTABLISHED, BUT NOT WRITTEN OR POSTED
An “unwritten rule” soon ceases to be a rule. People forget or misinterpret it. By writing safety rules and posting them, supervisors take the first step toward uniform understanding of the rules.

3. WHEN A RULE IS SEEN, BUT NOT READ
Proper posting means conspicuous posting. Rules are more likely to be read in a well-lighted, well-traveled departmental area. Care should be taken to see that postings are not defaced or obscured.

4. WHEN A RULE IS READ, BUT NOT UNDERSTOOD
Reading alone does not ensure full understanding of a rule. The formation of sound safety habits requires explanation and careful coaching. Experience show that even long-service employees need continuing reminders.

5. WHEN A RULE IS UNDERSTOOD, BUT NOT FOLLOWED
Many people are forgetful about safety rules. Some may wink at the rules. Others may ignore them. The challenge for supervisors is to find new and interesting ways to remind employees of the importance of following the established rules.

6. WHEN A RULE IS OFFICIAL, BUT NOT ENFORCED
A rule loses its force if violation go unnoticed. Fair but firm enforcement is essential if rules are to have meaning at all. Proper enforcements and discipline require that supervisors take the lead by adhering to the rules themselves.

7. WHEN A RULE IS ENFORCED, BUT OUTDATED
Changing conditions can quickly create the need for new or revised rules. This suggest that rules be periodically reviewed and reexplained.

A safety rule is a rule when it is up-to-date, clearly understood, consistently followed, and enforced. It then becomes a safety, habit-formed and a key part of the supervisor’s accident prevention program.

“Law as Applied in the Philippines?”
“Afterwards, he was to say that through his study of law, he was shocked to learn that the rights of many people were violated, due to their poverty and ignorance.”

On Dealing with Government Agencies
Let it be your bureaucratic policy not to just agree on anything without factual basis and without consulting a number of authorities. Most people involved doesn't really know the little details.

On Yet another Trouble
Trouble can be unpleasant and painful and damaging, but it can also be the flint that strikes sparks out of the steel in your soul. The famous actor Walter Hampden once was asked which sentence in the English language he considered the most memorable. He thought for a moment. Then he replied that in his opinion the greatest sentence was in an old Negro spiritual: ''Nobody knows the trouble I've seen; glory, hallelujah!

On Truth and Lies
But the trouble is, who cares about the truth, beyond its titillation value? What would we do with it, even if we knew it? The truth could be the bigger problem than the lie, and it often is.

On Messages and Sermons
It was a positive kind of message that insisted that life can be a victorious, even happy experience, that God has the answer to all of our problems, even the problem of ourselves.

Rizal’s Opening Statement in the Book “ The Social Cancer”
DEDICATION
To My Fatherland:
Recorded in the history of human sufferings is a cancer of so malignant a character that the least touch irritates it and awakens in it the sharpest pains. Thus, how many times, when in the midst of modern civilizations I have wished to call thee before me, now to accompany me in memories, now to compare thee with other countries, hath thy dear image presented itself showing a social cancer like to that other!
Desiring thy welfare, which is our own, and seeking the best treatment I will do with thee what the ancients did with their sick, exposing them on the steps of the temple so that everyone who came to invoke the Divinity might offer them a remedy.
And to this end, I will strive to reproduce thy condition faithfully, without discriminations; I will raise a part of the veil that covers the evil, sacrificing to truth everything, even vanity itself, since, as thy son, I am conscious that I also suffer from thy defects and weaknesses.
Europe, 1886 The Author

Your Faithful Companion
Knowledge and understanding are life's faithful companions who will never prove untrue to you. For knowledge is your crown, and understanding your staff; and when they are with you, you can possess no greater treasures.

Your True Brother
He who understands you is greater kin to you than your own brother. For even your own kindred may neither understand you nor your true worth.

Words that Brings Success
Criticism discourages, appreciation encourages! I may discourage people sometimes, but I desire to give encouragement most of the time. If I can avoid it I will not say something that brings hopelessness in an already difficult situation. I want my words to bring success.

Mindset
They were all reared to be a Jew, taught to be one, proselyte --- result--- they are now a Jew in mind and heart. Today, they are being asked to shed this thinking. Now, tell them what happened --- why it happened --- speculate for positive reasons. Everything works for good.

On Love the Real Thing
Once, when I stopped off on a speaking trip to see her, she asked me how she would know she was in love. ''Well,'' I said, ''as you know, I'm no 'Dear Abby,' but I would say that when the relationship is compatible and exciting, and you just can't wait for the other person to appear, like I can't wait to hear your mother's footsteps returning when she has been out, then it's pretty surely the real thing. But it's always wise to pray about such relationship to be sure it's right; for if it isn't right, it's wrong and nothing wrong ever turns out right.

On Winning And Losing

On Reorganization
Continue to diligently pay the government as we are able. Leave with finesse and exit gracefully always. Remember that God is the one behind us all in those things.

Discuss Importance of Prosecuting Job/Project
Continuously and without Let-up

So they can’t stop or withdraw the contract, if so they change their mind. At least we’re able to show that we are determined. Negative attitude in the execution of the work is a weapon against us, for whatever reason.
Output that seem deliberately few and insignificant must be avoided, we must have a projection of moving steadily and surely.

Politics
Politics of the majority classes, not of the elite. Politics based on program and critical issues, not personalities and empty talk. Politics of national and popular concerns and public service, not of vested interest and divisions of spoils. High level, not dirty politics.
We need a government that is nationalist, popular and democratic that will work for a self-reliant economic, independent popular culture and a participating and pluralist political system.

On Payment and Compensation
Remember that the payment we receive is acceptable and commensurate only to our capability maybe even less. If we really do know more, we get paid correspondingly more. It has a direct bearing on our performance --- being given a job and in return get paid and compensated.

When You Find your Match
For marriage to succeed, each partner should be excited by the abilities of the other and not feel threatened by an interest that is not shared. You must not begin your marriage by denying all that you are or you will never develop into all that you can be. There is no challenge in the world like the loving presence of someone who believes the best of you, and trust that your marriage will lead to great accomplishments for your both. I am happy to say I met my match - once - and I hope you have met yours.

About Plans And Priorities

Six Attention Getters
1. Announce a benefit.
2. Start with a question.
3. Ask the reader to think about a specific idea or fact.
4. State an offer.
5. Start with a bold sentence that shows readers they are missing out on an important benefit.
6. Begin on a warm personal note. Include a personal salutation.

On the origin of "Water under the Bridge"
A boy a long time ago leaned against the railing of an old fashioned bridge and watched the current of the river below. A log, bit of driftwood, a chip, all floated past. Again the surface of the river was smooth. But always, as it had for a hundred, perhaps a thousand years, the water slipped by - under the bridge. At seasons the current went more swiftly, and again quite slowly, but always the river flowed on - under the bridge.
Watching the river that day, the boy made a discovery. It was not the discovery of a material thing, something he might put his hands upon. He could not even see it. He had discovered great idea. Quite suddenly, and yet quickly, he knew that everything in his life would some day pass under the bridge and be gone, like water. And the boy came to like those words, ''under the bridge.”
All his life thereafter the idea served him well and carried him through, although there were days and ways that were dark and not easy. Always, when he made a mistake that couldn't be helped, or lost something that could never come again, the boy, now a man, said, ''It's water under the bridge.”
And he didn't worry about mistakes so much after that and he didn't let trouble get him down --- because it was ''water under the bridge.''

Humility In Greatness
You can distinguish a great man from a small man in this, that when riches, or honors, or prominence come to him the great man is humbled and sobered by his sense of duty, and by his consciousness of how little after all he had to do with it. No sincere soul really thinks he is superior. Success “comes” to us. No man earns it; or, rather, the one who earns it is denied it as often as not.
Oliver Wendell Holmes described how an idea “came” to him, striking him like a bullet, as he expressed it. Every creative mind has felt this, how things “just come”. The composer of music, the painter, the sculptor, the novelist, dramatist and orator, the inventor, all have the essence of recipiency. Only the egotistic fool thinks he is the author of his own conceptions. Socrates had his “daimon” that whispered to him suggestions. And every other great constructive soul has had that peculiar feelings of being played upon by some force or spirit not of himself.
Only little souls are cocky and chesty and greedy for praise, whether they deserve it or not. These are the plagiarists, copiers and second-raters of the world.
The same is true of the greatly rich. Under existing economic conditions a man may inherit a million dollars. In proportion as he regards it as “mine, to do with as I please”, he is small…. But if he realizes that…. The high and serious task of administering it for the welfare of mankind is laid on his shoulders, then he becomes great.
So also if a man makes his own fortune. He still perceives, if he be great; that “accident or favor” has played into his hands, and he can have no peace nor self- respect unless he gives himself over to doing what he can to help those less fortunate.

NO TIME, NO TIME
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do
Must hurry off and get to work
For bills would soon be due
And so I said a hurried prayer
Jumped up from off my knees,
My Christian duty now is done
My soul could be at ease
All through the day I had no time
To speak a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends
They’ll laugh at me I feared
No time... No time… too much to do
That was my constant cry
No time.... My constant cry
No time to give to those in need
At last, it was time to die.
And when before the Lord I came
I stood with downcast eye
Within His hand He held a book
It was the Book of Life
He looked into the book and said,
“Your name I cannot find,
I once was going to write it down
But never found the time”.

The Unanswered Prayers
I asked For Riches, That I might Be happy;
I Was Given Poverty,
That I Might Be wise.
I Asked For health, That I might do
Greater Things;
I Was Given infirmity,
That I Might Do Better Things.
I Asked For Strength, That I Might Achieve;
I Was Made Weak,
That I Might Learn Humbly To Obey.
I Asked For Power, That I Might Have
The Praise Of Men;
I Was Given Weakness,
That I Might Feel The Need Of God.
I Asked For All Things That I May Enjoy Life;
I Was Given Life,
That I Might Enjoy All Things.
I Got Nothing That I Asked For,
But Everything I Had Hoped For,
My Unspoken Prayers Were Answered.
I Am Among All Men
Most Richly Blessed.

On Success Ladders
You can never go higher than you can dream. But you can go as high as you can dream. Then the coach added, ''But you will have to climb a ladder to your dreams and it can be steep and hard going. And on that ladder to your dream are four rungs: the first is determination; the second, dedication; the third, discipline; and the fourth rung is attitude.'' The coach discoursed on the importance of each rung, but stressed the extra importance of attitude. ''Your attitude toward your goal, toward yourself, toward life, and toward the Lord God Almighty will determine whether or not your dream will come true.

God’s Plan For Your Mate
Everyone longs to give himself to someone,
To have a deep soul relationship with another;
To be loved thoroughly and exclusively.
But God, to the Christian says,
“No, not until you are SATISFIED, FULFILLED,
and CONTENT with giving yourself
totally unreserved to ME,
to having an intensely personal
and unique relationship with ME ALONE,
discovering that only in ME
is your SATISFACTION to be found,
then you will be capable
of the perfect human relationship
that I have planned for you.
‘ You will never be united with me
exclusive of anyone or anything else,
exclusive of any other desires or longings.
I want you to stop planning, stop wishing,
and allow ME to bring it to you.
Just keep watching ME.
Expecting the greatest things.
Keep experiencing the satisfaction that I am.
Keep listening and learning the things that I tell you.
You just wait, that’s all.
Don’t be anxious, don’t worry!
Don’t look around at the things others have
or at what I have given them.
Don’t look at the things you want.
You just keep looking at me, or you’ll miss what
I want to show you.
And then, when you’re ready,
I’ll surprise you with a love far more wonderful
than any of you could dream of.
You see, until you are ready,
(I am working even at this moment
to have both of you ready at the same time),
Until you are both satisfied exclusively
with ME and the lives prepared for you,
You won’t be able to experience the love that
exemplifies your relationship with ME.
This, is PERFECT LOVE.
And I want you to see in the flesh
a picture of your relationship with me:
And, to enjoy naturally, and concretely
the everlasting arm of BEAUTY,
PERFECTION and LOVE that I offer you with MYSELF.

On Pressures and Stress of Life
A fast-paced, exciting life can produce a tension and stress that destroy, or it can result in a strong life thrust that moves ever faster but still remains under control. When life is lived in an attitude of complete faith in Christ, there is peace at the center and inevitably power flows from inner quietness. The streams that turn the machinery of the world rest in quiet places. As Edwin Markham put it, “At the heart of the cyclone tearing the sky is a place of central calm.”

On Moving
Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result but the cause of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different actions or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all. So don't wait for trouble to intimidate or paralyze you. Make a move. The Prodigal Son didn't make way home by lying down the gutter. He moved!

Before Delivering a Speech
Never have I made a talk or given a sermon without asking Divine help; and what I pray for is clarity of mind to say the right thing in such a way that it will help people.

Women on Men
They wanted a smart man in business. A nice and funny one who will not always worry about his job.

Regarding Missions And Directions

A Special Note To You
I was walking down life’s highway, a long time ago
One day, I read a sign that said ”HEAVEN’S GROCERY STORE”
As I got a little closer, the door opened wide
When I came to my self, I was already standing inside and saw a host of angels
They were standing everywhere
One handed a basket and said “My child shop with LOVE”
Everything a Christian needed was in the grocery store
First I got some PATIENCE. LOVE was in the same row
Farther down was UNDERSTANDING. You need that everywhere you go
I got a box or two of WISDOM and a bag or two of FAITH
I couldn’t miss the HOLY SPIRIT, He was all over the place
I stopped to get STRENGTH
SALVATION was for free, so I took enough of it for you and me
As I went up to the aisle, I saw PRAYER
I took some for when I got outside, I would run right in to my sin
PEACE and JOY were plentiful. They were on the last shelf
SONGS and PRAISES were hanging near so I helped myself
Then I started to pay my grocery bill, for I thought I had everything needed for the MASTER’S WILL
I said to the angel, “How much do I owe Thee?”
He smiled and said, ”My child, CHRIST PAID FOR THEM for you a long, long time ago…”
ALL THINGS WHATEVER YOU ASK IN PRAYER,
BELIEVE AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE…

On Man's Merit
The wise man is he who loves and reveres God. A man's merit lies in his knowledge and in his deeds, not in his color, faith, race, or descent. For remember, my friend, the son of a shepherd who possesses heir to the throne, if he be ignorant. Knowledge is your true patent of nobility, no matter who your father or what your race maybe.

On the True Worth of Knowledge
A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely, more than much knowledge that is idle.
If your knowledge teaches you not the value of things, and frees you not from the bondage to matter, you shall never come near the throne of Truth.
If your knowledge teaches you not to rise above human weakness and misery and lead your fellow man on the right path, you are indeed a man of little worth and will remain such till Judgement Day.
Learn the words of wisdom uttered by the wise and apply them in your own life. Live them but do not make a show of reciting them, for he who repeats what he does not understand is no better than an ass that is loaded with books.

Changes
A truly brilliant intellectual mind is one that is never shocked by what is new, or different from its mode of thinking. It welcomes mental challenges. A bright mind does not cling to old beliefs and old concepts, simply because they are believed by the majority.

Your Life, My Life
Your life is a written letter that people will continue to read and remember. Vision without action is just a dream. Action without vision is just an exercise.

The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And I looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black,
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on the way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
--- Diverged in a wood, and I ---
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
---Robert Frost

On running a business
“To do a good job with anything, you've got to know about it. Then do the best you can, study, trust God, be honest, give value received, have good merchandise, treat people right, and hold your own when you know you are right.”

On Absorptive Capacity
Has direct bearing on our performance, being given job in return, get paid / compensated. This is also responsibility plus experience plus discipline plus determination.

On Friendship
Friendship with the ignorant is as foolish as arguing with a drunkard.

On Equipment Setup and Installation
All equipment start-up and installation should follow standard procedures detailed in each manual. DO NOT assume anything, read carefully the instructions. DO NOT RUSH THINGS to catch up with perceive loss --- time or money, etc. --- mistakes and misjudgment will cost more. THINK!

Seven Point Writing Plan
1. Establish purpose.
2. State main point.
3. Visualize someone you know and write to that person.
4. Fix your opening.
5. Get the idea out.
6. Use examples, parables, metaphors, analogies.
7. Choose short direct words.

10 MOST DANGEROUS DECISION TRAPS
In the book Decision Traps: The Ten Barrier to Brilliant Decision Making and How to Overcome Them, the authors observed that decision research in the last two decades has shown that people in numerous fields tend to make the same kind of mistakes. They highlighted the most common errors in the following ten “decision traps”.
1. Plunging in – beginning to gather information and reach conclusions without first taking a few minutes to think about the crux of the issue you’re facing or to think through how you believe decisions like this one should be made.
2. Frame blindness – setting out to solve the wrong problem because you have created a mental framework for your decision, with little thought, that causes you to overlook the best options or lose sight of important objectives.
3. Lack of frame control – failing to consciously define the problem in more ways than one or being unduly influenced by the frame of others.
4. Overconfidence in your judgement – failing to collect key factual information because you are too sure of your assumptions and opinions.
5. Short-sighted shortcuts – relying inappropriately on “rules of thumb” such as implicitly trusting the most readily available information or anchoring too much on convenient facts.
6. Shooting from the hip – believing you can keep straight in your head all the information you’ve discovered, and therefore “winging it” rather than following a systematic procedure when making the final choice.
7. Group failure – assuming that with many smart people involved, good choices will follow automatically, and therefore failing to manage the group decision-making process.
8. Fooling yourself about feedback – failing to interpret the evidence from the past outcomes for what it really says, either because you are protecting your ego or because you are tricked by hindsight.
9. Not keeping track – assuming that experience will make its lessons available automatically, and therefore failing to keep systematic records to track the results of your decisions and failing to analyze these results in ways that reveal their key lessons.
10. Failure to audit your decision process – failing to create an organized approach to understanding your own decision-making, so you remain constantly exposed to all the above mistakes.

On Visions And Ideals

On Himself
“Do what is expected of you. There are no limits. You can become whatever you wanted to be. Determination + discipline + hardwork = the way to success. Good manners = the way to obtain better things.''

Purchasing Policy
Always buy something you have already seen and felt, purchase from a reputable dealer / seller despite cost. Always have thorough look for the little details, again prioritize.

On Hope
So build hope into your philosophy. Base your life upon it. Hope that difficulties will pass. Hope that storm will cease. Hope that pain will not endure. Hope that weakness will be overcome. Hope thou in God... And ultimately you will find yourself saying, ''Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.”

On Beliefs and Doubts
And just what is positive thinking? Well, naturally, it is the opposite of negative thinking. It is the “I can” principle as contrasted with the '' I can't'' way of thinking. It is believing in your possibilities and disbelieving in your doubts.

On Perfection
To be better at anything, one has to be a better person attitudinally, mentally and spiritually.

For Being Just
Remember, one just man causes the Devil greater affliction than a million blind believers.

I Will
I will do more than care
--- I will help
I will be more than fair
--- I will be kind
I will do more than forgive
--- I will forget
I will do more than dream
--- I will work
I will do more than earn
--- I will enrich
I will do more than give
--- I will strive
I will do more than live
--- I will grow
I will be more than friendly
--- I will be a friend

On Winners and Losers
1. The winner is always a part of the answer, the loser is always a part of the problem.
2. The winner has always a program, the loser has always an excuse.
3. The winner says “Let me do it for you”, the loser says “That’s not my job”.
4. The winner sees an answer for every problem, the loser sees a problem in every answer.
5. The winner says “It may be difficult but it is possible”, the loser says “It may be possible but it is difficult”.

Follow Your Dream
I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.
The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, “I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, racetrack to racetrack, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy’s high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.
That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre dream ranch, showing the location of all buildings, the stables and the track. Then drew a detailed floor plan for a 4000-square-foot house that would sit on the 200-acre dream ranch.
He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the first page was a large red F with a note that read, “See me after class”.
The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, “ ‘Why did I receive an F?”
The teacher said, “This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you’ll have to pay large stud fees. There is no way you could ever do it.” Then the teacher added, “ If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.”
The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, “Look son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.”
Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, “You can keep the F and I’ll keep my dream.”
Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, “I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4000-square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace.” He added, “the best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week. When the teacher was leaving, he said, “Look Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids’ dreams. Fortunately, you had enough gumption not to give up yours.”
Don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Follow your heart no matter what. (Jack Canfield)

On Life and Death
The bishop pointed to the church wall.”Do you see that plaque over there? To me it’s not merely a plaque; it’s a boy who lies in the graveyard. An English boy. I knew him well. I knew his parents. The boy came here when he was only twenty-one. He was climbing the Matterhorn eagerly, confidently, when a rope broke and fell…”
The bishop stopped speaking. All around us the hush seemed to deepen.
Finally the bishop spoke again.” But was that the end for this young lad so full of life and promise? Those who knew him don’t think so. His parents don’t think so. In that graveyard where he lies with the others, there is a sentence carved in stone that says,” In the sight of the unwise, they seemed to die.” Death is the illusion; the short - sighted view. Those with more wisdom know that this boy died climbing. He was moving up. And in the life beyond this life, he is still moving up, he is climbing still…”
Again the bishop paused. There was not a sound in the little church. Finally he went on, “And so I say to you, when you go forth from this place, find a mountain to climb. Find a difficulty to overcome. Find an obstacle and master it. All around you are the great life – living, life sustaining forces of the universe. Give yourself to them. Trust them. Lift up your eyes to the hills. Keep them fixed on the highest peaks…and you will always find the strength you need.”

The Boss
“ The man who knows HOW will always find a job, but the one who knows WHY will always be the boss.”

On Staff Qualification
Engineering graduate in EE, ME, CHE is preferred for the present job we have. Do not compromise policy --- cash and time does not warrant this at this time. Business flexibility, strategy and diversity requirements points to this direction.

Three Leadership Qualities
1. Those who try to understand and abide by the rules.
---respectful
2. Those who keep trying, or try new ideas when there’s a setback.
---resourceful
3. Those who face up to the consequences of their actions.
---responsible

On Acting Like Owners
Remind everyone to treat this workplace as their own, whatever is in here is ours, whatever happened.

Hints to Work Better
Management
• Identify Real Problems
• Set Priorities
• Set time limits
• Do one thing at a time
• Accept change. Operate within budget
Performance
• Reflect understanding
• Tell the What & Why
• Write for your readers
• Learn to ask questions
• Use common sense
Attitude
• Say it simple
• Admit mistakes
• Be calm
• Motivate
• Smile
... it is a good practice to spend only 25% of what you earn ---maybe.
But good is not the same as best?

On Problems
There is no hopeless situation, only hopeless people. There is a way out of any circumstance no matter how dark it may seem. Write me and I will help you. God loves you. He will help you. There is hope.

On Conflicts
Acceptance of wrongdoing and responsibility is a must. Total reconciliation can only be attained with both parties taking the plunge without prejudices and perceived mistrust. Solution to the situation right now is remote; time to determine result.

On Troubles' Positive Effect
There is no doubt that trouble often does burn away undesirable traits or characteristics. Take pride, for instance, or arrogance, or willfulness --- these things block us from people and from our most cherished goals. Like constraining fences, they have to be broken down before we can love and be loved, before we can really join the human race. Trouble can do that. I believe that if trouble avoids a person (or he avoids it) for too long, he may grow complacent and careless and even a bit smug.

Life is Like a Box of Chocolate, You'll never know what you're going to get
“ Mother was the dealer and the hand she dealt me was completely impossible. I began to complain that with such a poor hand I had no chance at all. Finally Mother said,” Put your cards down, boys. I want to give you some advice; especially you Dwight. You are playing a friendly game here in your home with your mother and your brothers, all of who love you. But out in the world, life will deal you plenty of bad hands and those involved may not love you at all. So the lesson is to take whatever hand is dealt you and with God's help just play it out.'' I've never forgotten that advice of Mother's and I've just played out every hand and he added, God has helped me all along the way.

About Principles
We must not waiver - people might misunderstand it as money matters --- patience will in the end win and get results. We will get job that is for us. We must develop our own market. Estimate / count cost idealistically in realistic way. Our mission / vision is to bring up the level of consciousness of a Filipino at a level higher than it is now.

On Justice
The cases of the comfort women and Hitler's war criminal demonstrates that it is never too late to seek justice. Neither is it too early, where just cause exist.

On Making Decisions and the Difficulties of Life
Face it, always facing it, that's the only way to go through, face it (expletives deleted).'
…run on, work your problems out...
… never quit!
“a thoughtful and prudent person will gather as much data as possible, consult others, ask questions, and look at all the angles before acting”
.... my nerves are strong, my decisions are not made through emotions.

About Insidious Fears
They conquer who believe they can. Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain. Practice confidence with faith and your fear and insecurities will soon have no power over you.

On Yet Another Change
CHANGE is more acceptable...
...when it is understood than when it is not.
...when it doesn't threaten security than when it does.
...when those affected have helped to create it than when it has been externally imposed.
...when it results from application of previously established impersonal principles than when it is dictated by personal order.
...when it follows a series of successful changes than when it follows a series of failures.
...when it is inaugurated after prior change has been assimilated than when it is inaugurated during the confusion of other major change.
...when it has been planned than when it is experimental.
...to people new on the job than to people old on the job.
...to people who share the benefits of the change than to those who do not.
...if the organization has been trained to accept change.

On Living
Mine has been, and still is, perhaps now even more than ever, a fast-paced life. But I love it and thrive on it. I believe in works, lots of it. An interesting, work-filled life is an exciting life. It is ever fresh, ever new. Problems galore, challenges every day, new goals, new experiences, this is the stuff of which living is made.

On Growing Older
It has been my observation that older people are likely to be less self-centered than younger people. They have had time to learn more about loving... and living. They are more philosophical about disappointments or setbacks. They are less impatient. They have learned the value of waiting. They are more serene.
In other words, reaching the high plateau of your later years can be satisfying -even-exhilarating - experience, if...
If you bring the right attitudes along with you.

On the Secret of Being Happy
The way to happiness: Keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much. Fill your life with love. Scatter sunshine. Forget self, think of others. Do as you would be done by. Try this week and you will be surprised.

The World Needs Men
…who cannot be bought;
…whose word is their bond;
…who put character above wealth;
…who possess opinions and a will;
…who are larger than their vocations;
…who do not hesitate to take chances.
…who will not lose their individuality in a crowd;
…who will be as honest in small things as in great things;
…who will make no compromise with wrong.
…who will not say they do it “because everybody else does it.”
…who are true to their friends in adversity as well as in prosperity.
…who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning, and hardheadedness are the best qualities for winning success;
…who are not ashamed or afraid to stand for the truth when it is unpopular, who can say “no” with emphasis, although all the rest of the world says “yes”.
whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires.

Welcome to SLIDE RULES!

I am an Engineer, but I was once called also a Carpenter by a Boss. I do not exactly know what that meant really at the time.

Today, I guess it is because my other Boss is a Carpenter!

Welcome to the thoughts of an Engineer and a Carpenter at the same time.

Regards!
